Custom glasses

There you are. IPA in your hand and next to you a bag of chips. The new bag of Nibbets is so far from the couch that you just accept your fate and settle for the old bag of Wokkels you left on the coffee table yesterday. On the other side of the couch you find your pearl, your sweetheart, your everything, your old ball-and-chain. She is arranging candy on her phone for the 2694th time, but fortunately she is almost to Jawbreaker Junction, so she has that to look forward to. You tell your friends you're going to watch an MMA fight, when you know darn well you can't wait for Astrid Joosten to reappear on your screen for 2 for 12. Who is sitting on the couch with their porum for the eighth week in a row? I don't have to look that question up, Astrid.

The highlights of your lockdown weekend feel no more special than an old-fashioned Tuesday. It's constant "holding on," "loving" and "keeping your distance" that also repeats itself like a mantra on the news. The IPA suddenly doesn't feel as special as before. Not like at the pub, with your friends or at the brewery.

But then. The Demissionary Duo came back on the tube and spoke the redeeming words: the terraces are opening! Lovely again watching the strolling people, bad outfits, and yes, even the tourist was spotted again. Still, there was something homely, something cozy about all that puzzling, fiddling lazing and fiddling. I say, why stop? And kick it up a notch!

Grab your sweetheart by the hand and get crafting! We are going to make "fitting glasses" and today our basic material is BEER!

The pass glass was a common object in societies in the seventeenth century. The game was often played in special oblong glasses. Due to the poor quality of the glass and the bad name of the game, these glasses are very rare. Therefore, it is easier to make one yourself, should you no longer have one in the barn.

What do you need?

2x Uiltje FF Lekker Met Je bek in het zonetje (trust me, not something strong)

2x old tall glasses (the higher the glass, the better)

1x strip of duct tape

Making a fitting glass is simple:

Step 1: Cut a strip of duct tape into 5mm strips. Then make about 8 of them.

Step 2: Stick the strips around the glasses with two fingers between each strip each time (your friend's fingers, not those sausage fingers of yours).

If all goes well, you now have a glass with 3 to 4 rings

Step 3: Fill the beer to the top rim.

How does it work?

You are now all set to go fitting glasses! Fitting glasses is all about precision. Put the glass to your lips and start drinking. Now the trick is to stop at the next line. Are you below or above it? Unfortunately, you have to continue drinking to the next line until you get it right. The person who empties his glass first has lost (or won?). Ready for a rematch? Fill it up!
